Ron Packard Named Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2008 Award Winner in Greater Washington

Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award

Ron Packard, chief executive officer and founder of K¹², received the Ernst & Young Entrepreneur Of The Year® 2008 Award in the IT Services & Solutions category in Greater Washington. Ernst & Young's Entrepreneur of the Year is the world's most prestigious business award for entrepreneurs. The award makes a difference through the unique way it encourages entrepreneurial activity among those with potential and recognizes the contribution of people who inspire others with their vision, leadership and achievement. It celebrates those who are building and leading successful, growing and dynamic businesses, recognizing them through regional, national and global awards programs in more than 135 cities in 50 countries. The winners were selected by an independent judging panel made up of regional business, academic and community leaders.

As a Greater Washington award winner, Ron is now eligible for consideration for the national Ernst & Young Entrepreneur of the Year 2008 award. 

ComputED’s Education Software Review Awards

2007 Winner: K12
ComputED's annual Education Software Review Awards target innovative and content-rich programs and websites that provide parents and teachers with the technology to foster education excellence, including augmenting classroom curriculum and improving teacher productivity. Winners are selected from titles submitted by software publishers around the world. Selection criteria include academic content, potential for broad classroom use, technical merit, and subject approach. K12 is honored to have been recognized for its innovative program.

James P. Boyle Award

2007 Winner: Ron Packard, K¹² Chief Executive Officer
This year, the James P. Boyle Entrepreneurial Leadership Award was bestowed at the annual Education Industry Association (EIA) conference in Orlando. The award is given to individuals whose achievements in the for-profit education industry serve as guideposts for others starting and building entrepreneurial educational endeavors, and who exemplify the characteristics James P. Boyle represented, including courage and perseverance with an end to improving educational opportunities for children.

James P. Boyle was an educator-entrepreneur who founded Ombudsman Educational Services in 1975 and became a leader and role model for the emerging education services industry. In 1990, he helped found the Association of Educators in Private Practice (AEPP), which was renamed the Education Industry Association in 2002. The Education Industry Association, with over 800 corporate and individual members, is the leading professional association for private providers of education services, suppliers, and other private stakeholders in education.
